Founded by Emma Dogliani, ELMO exists to create innovative and accessible performances involving all communities making the best in quality live music available to all.
ELMO is currently developing Music in the Ville, a project getting more music into HMP Pentonville.
ELMO produced Bat out of Hackney project a community production based around Act 2 of Die Fledermaus with Rap and Grime. This project was in partnership with Hackney Empire, Hackney Music
Services, and Arts Council England
As well as being Artistic Director of ELMO, Emma performs regularly in her home borough of Hackney in other events. She makes several appearances a year with the choir at St. John of Jerusalem, with Hackney Festival Chorus, has given three recitals at Sutton House music society, has appeared 5 times for Hackney Proms and regularly sings for Stoke Newington Opera Cabaret.
Since 1990, ELMO (initially under the name of New London Opera) has mounted four full operatic productions with orchestra, four charity gala concerts and three song recitals in East London venues.
ELMO is a project-based organisation which has made a great success of each of the projects it has previously created, in part because they happen every two or three years, and we can call upon artists to commit to them with great energy, alongside their own regular and usual commitments.
